UKZN fifth-year medical student, Mr Mohamed Hoosen Suleman, was named one of this year’s Inside Education 100 South African Shining Stars award recipients at the prestigious event held in Johannesburg.
The recipients are South African citizens aged between 18 to 35 years old, who are doing extraordinary things in their various fields of expertise.
The award comes after Suleman was the winner of the South African Health Excellence Rising Star Award last month.
Suleman continues to display academic excellence and is celebrated by the UKZN community for inspiring greatness at the medical school.
Inside Education Managing Director, Mr Matuma Letsoalo said: ‘These are young people who are nominated by their peers and organisations, recognising them for selflessly giving their time and talent to make their communities, and in turn our country, a better place to live.’
‘This year’s 100 finalists were drawn from a pool of over 700 potential winners, which serves to remind us of the depth and talent of our country. Selected from various economic and social sectors, these are young people who, in our view, epitomise passion, energy, and a sense of endeavour in challenging times. They have the resilience needed to move South Africa forward,’ Letsoalo said.
